Many, many thanks and much love to all who have sent your congratulations to Bob on his PCRU standing. I'm sure you all know how much this means to him and to me.
I told Dr Sawyers that our thanks were to God, and to him as God's assistant. He smiled at that, but he was already smiling at Bob's good news! Dr S has finally come to the conclusion that Bob has two different diseases.....CML and separately, high platelets. Since the platelet "problem" has never caused any trouble, we are just going to set it aside and not worry too much about it.
Bob will be 74 in October and has and is living a very good life. The thought that he is a "pioneer" is a bit off-base. Obviously, he went on the BMS trial to save his own life, and we are just grateful if it will help someone else in the future. It's the younger ones who are suffering with CML that we are hoping the new drugs and continued research will help.
So again, thank you all so much for your caring and concern. We are truly blessed by these groups and all of you, our friends.
