My husband & I took our son to the doctor today. The social worker came in and gave us two publications from the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society:
Financial Health Matters: Money Management, Insurance Information, Financial Resources
and Touching Lives: Guide to Patient Services . The first publication contained a link to Patient Advocate Foundation http://www.patientadvocate.org which is described as a state by state directory of financial resources, a number for Novartis financial assistance for Gleevec - (877)GLEEVEC, http://www.phrma.org which contains a directory of patient assistance programs for prescription durgs based on income, and other links to organizations and help. There is also a link to the lls website http://cml.tlls.org in the section on Patient/Caregiver Services. I'm sure if you went to the LLS website, you could order the publications and would have them within the week. I have done this before. You can download the Financial Health Matters right to your computer:

I hope this helps.
The good news is that Tommy's spleen is back to normal and he has been cleared for sports after being on Gleevec for a month! Yay!

As many of you know Danny had a stem cell transplant in April. But
many of you don't know that he is on Medicare, and Social Security
and his Cobra ran out in July.. He is 40 years old their for he
don't qualify for the Medicare prescription card... He qualifies for
Medicaid but that is with a spin down and with that he would have to
acquire $647.00 per month of medical bills that we would have to pay
out of pocket before they would pay anything. (Not possible we cant
afford that.. let alone some of his drugs are 400+ per month..).. Is
their any help out their that would help him with Meds.?
Thanks,
Kelly
