I'm glad this topic came up. I remember a long time ago, one list member insisted that when a person gets one type of cancer, they couldn't get a second. Some how she believed that we couldn't get a second cancer and so we should be happy that CML was the one we had because it is better than so many others. I tried to explain that this theory made no sense but I guess she didn't want to hear the reality.
The truth is that we are indeed more likely to develop another cancer and we should be very diligent in getting regular check ups...mamograms, pap smears, prostate exams etc...
