Good
question! I know that here in Canada a diagnosis of any type of cancer
invalidates you as a blood donor, and since there are many similarities between
blood and tissues I would expect that also extends to organ
donations. But this is just speculation on my part.
But this raises
some interesting questions: Is CML transmissible by blood? If an
organ from a CML'r was transplanted, would GVHD in the recipient eliminate the
phillies? If so, would that organ be of any higher risk than any
other?
Given the
relative scarcity of organs for donation it would be great if there was no risk
and donations would be allowed. And since all CML'rs know only too well
the value of a (marrow) donation, I would have to think the donation level in
this group would be pretty high if it was allowed.

Hello to everyone!
Today, I went and renewed my Driver's License. During the renewal
process, the clerk asked me if I would like to be an organ donor. I
have always said "yes" in the past, but this past year was my
diagnosis with CML.
I still said, "Yes", but I was wondering if anyone has any
information as to whether or not a person with CML can donate organs,
if the occasion arises? This is one of those hmmmmm questions :-)
