Hello All, I'm a 26 year old third year law student, and was diagnosed with CML during the middle of my first year. At that point, I was already involved in the DisAbility Law Society, but since then I've taken a couple of disability law courses and have been finding this CML-disability discussion quite interesting.
I knew right away that CML (or Gleevec) made me tired and unpredictably emotional (probably because it makes me a little angry sometimes) at times. But it was not until I studied disabilities, laws, and accommodation issues that I even considered regarding CML as a disability. I would love to take two months to myself after the bar exam in July to SLEEP, first of all, but also to learn more about CML, Gleevec, treatment, etc., and not be so dependent on my mother and MD-Resident sister to remember everything for me. They know more about my numbers and health than I do, and I'm really ready to take "responsibility" for it all now. I just feel like I need a break from everything else to be able to do that. But the competition about finding a job, and the anxiety of paying back my loans make me hesitate to do so. We'll see. By the way, does anyone know anything about adoption and CML? I've been told that it's really difficult to adopt a child if you have any sort of "scary" health problem, like CML. Is this true?
