Hi all,
I have been off line for a while due to a very fun week with the family at Disney World. My parents, sister & family (4 nieces and nephews ranging from 3 to 9), my husband and our 3 year old Elizabeth all had a wonderful time! What an amazing place that is! So many fun things for all ages. Elizabeth does not understand why we can't just turn around and go back there any time we want. Ah, to be 3 again. I have been catching up on posts and wanted to welcome all the newbies. And to express my sadness about Marque's passing. I remember being very inspired by his posts and his zest for life when I first started reading this list. What an amazing person he was. Also, congratulations to Hart and Jona for your new baby girl. Wonderful news, and she is a good sleeper to boot! I began the Gleevec when Elizabeth was 4.5 months old and mostly sleeping through the night, but I did need my husband to step it up with the early morning wake-ups, etc. It was true for me that the initial side effects were so much worse than they were after the first two months or so. I can't speak for 800mg because I have always been on 400mg. I hope her side effects are as minor as possible. I just happened to realize that on this day 3 years ago I was dx'd with CML with my infant in my arms. The dr. told to get a transplant if I had a match, and if not, enjoy my baby and get my affairs in order. Gave me the ol' 3 to 5 years expectation. Yikes. That one didn't know about Gleevec yet. My world was crumbling around me... I was very glad to have sought out second and third opinions! Looking back, I am so very very blessed and lucky by the way everything has turned out. Added to that, this Christmas will mark the 10 year anniversary of finishing my treatment for Hodgkins. A LOT to celebrate this holiday season!
