Welcome Peter, Sorry to hear you've become a member of this club but glad you found the site. This is a great forum to ask questions and share information and the people are a great bunch of people all dedicated to supporting each other. I was told exactly the same day you were. I went in for my bronchitis acting up and my WBC was 80, I was immediately directed to the ER where the 'lovely' ER doctor casually blurts out, "I'm sorry I'm sure you have Leukemia", then walks out. My husband and I were just left there staring at each other in shock and disbelief. I continued to have breathing problems so they checked me in the hospital and I finally saw an oncologist the next day late afternoon. After my bmb 2 weeks later I was formally dx'd. My counts were now down to 74 with all other counts okay so they directly started me on Gleevec. I've been fortunate enough to have had mild side effects, the most annoying being the fatigue, but I have continued to work. I just received my 6 mth bmb & am CCR. I hope you find the support & comfort I have found in this group. Wishes for healthy days to come! Brenda (43) dx 5/04 Gleevec 6/04 CCR 12/04
