Hi Nancy in New York,
I was dx in 2004 also and sometimes I think it is a bad dream and I will wake up and be my old well self again.
I have my faith and this helps me a lot.
I read Psalms a lot; I started this after my hubby passed away about 6 years ago. Psalms 46 is wonderful.
I also make it a point to not worry about the future because I really don't know how much I have left; I like to get up each day and face the day with just that day in view.  I keep my mind busy with a hobby of mine, genealogy.  I like helping people find their ancestors and it's fun.
When I wake up in the morning, I thank God for bringing me through another night;  I always head for the coffee pot and now that I take my im in the morning, plan a big breakfast.
I make time for a walk both morning and evening; taking in God's beauty, flowers, birds and etc.
I like to keep in touch with my children, with visits and phone calls.
I don't believe it hurts one to grieve, and I think it's one of our feelings that God gave us to help us get over what has happened to us.
So to sum it up, keep busy, time for you faith, time for yourself, time for your family, time to grieve, time to laugh; it's all part of this wonderful thing called life and of course, a time to die.
Hope this helps,
Jeanie<3

Please post some suggestions to help me live the rest of my life with
this disease but not with the sadness it brings.  I think I'm ready
to accept and adjust after living with it almost a full year.  I was
diagnosed last Jan.13, 2004, and will be looking for ways to make
2005 a better one.  Best wishes to all of you for a wonderful new
year!  I appreciate any help you can give me in how you cope and live
with your disease.
