Thanks Nancy...I laughed out loud when it caught my eye in the grocery store today. I ended up giving them to my dog because I could not handle the side effects. I word of caution...don't inbibe grapefruit juice within 2 hours of taking this.
On a more serious note, especially for the CML newbies on the list. Remember that this is a (albiet a most excellent one) support group, not an oracle. Share experiences, laugh, cry, vent, piss and moan, encourage, empathize, sympathize, celebrate, voice opinions, ask questions, read all the articles, argue, discuss options, all of that...there is no better place for us CML'ers to do these things than here. Just beware the "Weekend Oncologists." The place for definitive medical advice as to your treatment is directly from the best oncologist or group of oncologists you can get your trembling hands on. The calibre of your treatment and of the facility you are treated in is directly related to your chances of survival. In saying this, I am reminded that this is where I first learned of MD Anderson as a major treatment center close to me, and I still go there as a result of this, if you will, "serving suggestion". I believe that this suggestion played a role in saving my life up to this point, and I am grateful. Ah, but I digress. I inhabit this list for the comraderie of fellow my Vikings, for the celebration of milestones and for the commiseration of setbacks. I inhabit this list for the friends I have made, the friends I hope to make, and for the friends I have lost. I inhabit this list so I can find the strength to wink one eye while the other is tearing up. For hard core medical advice, I go to the people I hired to take care of me. Tomorrow morning, I'm going to drive to Houston, meet with those people, and do exactly what they say. I have done all I can do to help myself, and therefore I am comfortable leaving the rest of to God. I don't know when I will be able to post again, other than a picture or two, so I wanted to get this stuff off my chest. They might send me home with a fistful of new pills, they might keep there and start the transplant stuff. Whatever transpires, please know that I love you all. How blessed I am to have so many well wishers.
