YAHOOO!!! YIPPEEE!!! Number 793 in the Zero Club Zavie Hi Libby,
I have the most relaxed entrance requirements for the Zero Club. 0 out of 20 via cytogentics and your in. Clearly by this test you meet this requirement. You are at CCR, complete cytogenic remission. It is not clear to me why they counted 400 cells. I'm guessing that they may have used a FISH test to get these numbers. With the FISH test they use 200 cells. In that case you would definitely be at Zero because the FISH test always overestimates the number of CML cells. The result of 0.0544 % is usually the result that comes from a Q PCR test. In order to know what the reduction was from when you were diagnosed, you would have had to have a Q PCR test done at diagnosis. This is hardly ever done, so we guess at what it was. Lets suppose it was 54 at diagnosis. This would mean that you had a 3 log reduction. Fantastic. Hello All, Great news to share...I just got the results of my BMB that was done a couple of weeks ago. As you all know, I was diagnosed 4 months ago, and 3 months ago, I went on the 800mg Gleevec trial. At that time, 95% of my cells were hypercellular. Today, the percentage of BCR-ABL cells is only 0.0544 % !!! Now, I still need some help from you folks that have been dealing with all of this stuff for a long time and can help me better interpret what I've read. I guess I am not quite in the zero club yet, but is my remission considered CCRU or molecular? or is it only hematologic remission? How much of a log reduction has occurred? (The report says that the ratio may vary up to one-log because of methodological reasons.) The report says "cellular (30-40%) bone marrow with mild erythroid predominance". Total cells counted 400. Elsewhere in the report, it says 19 normal female metaphases analyzed. Diploid metaphases are now fully predominant, indicating a good response to therapy. 200 interphases were analyzed. 99.5% were Ph-. Any and all explanations will be appreciated!!! Thank you so much.
