Dear Audrey, thanks for sharing your situation with the group. It is
amazing how all of a sudden more and more people are coming forward and sharing
their thoughts on BMT. For a while, the subject seemed to be taboo.
I for one, did not want to talk about it at all, and still am not comfortable
with it, but it is part of our reality. I do not want to bury my head in
the sand but I was for a long, long time incapable of dealing with the idea of
my having to undergo a transplant. I am eager to learn more about how others
find the courage and strength to go forward with this procedure, and very
importantly, how family members cope.
I still do not think that I will be a willing transplant participant, but
am certainly willing to lend support to all those brave souls that choose this
as a treatment option.
Audrey, what mutations did Russ show signs of, and how long was he on
