I'm hoping that someone may be able to help me here. I've got an appt at the clinic tommorrow, but i feel i just need some answers...TODAY. On Monday, just 3 days ago, something strange happened...my mouth got extremely and uncomfortably dry, just around the middle of the day. I started looking at the side effects on the meds that I'm taking and much to my surprise, everything down to the Nexium 20 mg. causes dry mouth. I've been on these meds since transplant. I was on 400 mg of acyclovir and they upped it to 1600 mg, I take attivan 1 mg 2 or 3 times a day, I take Donnatal Elixir for my stomach ulcers and phenergran (both which say they cause dry mouth). I was put on a new drug called Dapsome that is a PCP Pneumonia preventative. I've been off the acyclovir, the dapsome, the donnatal and the phenergran and my mouth is still dry 3 days later. I called my nurse practioner and the first thing out of her mouth was "Sounds like you have graft vs. host of the mouth" Those are definitely words I DON"T WANT TO HEAR! I had a mouth biopsy when I was in the hospital post BMT and they said I didn't have GVH of the mouth. Has anyone had GVH of the mouth? What are the symptoms? My mouth is just terribly dry. I'm so hoping I don't have GVH...
