Hi Lindsey,
You didn't get the shivers after the apheresis?
I live in FL and was dx 1/27/05; put in the hospital right after dx for aphersis.
Been on 400 mgs gleevec for about 1 year now and blood counts are all normal.
I had most of the side effects but none I couldn't live with and all are better now.  I recently developed some sores that are painful.
I just take each day as it comes and live it to the fullest.
Tommorrow is yet to come and yesterday is already gone.
Blessings,
Jeanie<3

Jeanie,

Yes I recieved calcium during plateletpheresis but I always felt pretty good during the procedure and afterwards.  Whereabouts do you live and when were you diagnosed?  I am 26 and was diagnosed this past Sept.  I am currently on 400mg Gleevec but I am in the process of discussing with my doc the option of increasing my Gleevec to 600mg/day because the recent studies have shown a faster, higher level of cytogenetic response to the higher dose.  As well as a hopefully maintaining a high level of cytogenetic remission for a longer period of time.
