Hi Diane. I am so sorry to hear about you less than desireable results. I personally have been there. About 18 months ago my fish started showing 6% pos, I figured it must be a false pos and went into denial. 6 months later it went to 23% and I still figured it was a fluke. Finally when my WBC started creeping up and a BMB showed 100% pos, I could no longer deny the fact that I had relapsed. It was so hard to accept that... However, once I accepted the fact that I had relapsed, I became incredibly determined to get rid of this monster one way or another. I called Dr Talpaz about the bms trial, but I was not eligable yet because my wbc was not high enough. I had a consult with a BMT dr and started doing prep work for that route (pulminary function testing, chest xray, dental stuff...). I then was told about the RAD trial and figured before rushing into a BMT I'd try that. Sounded promising... and so far I'm doing ok on it... I have a BMB in March, so we'll know bett! er then. If I am still at 100% in March, I will try and get into the BMS trial (as long as the mutation testing shows that I do not have that bad one). And if that doesnt work or I have the bad mutation, I will then undergo a BMT. Now that I've made these decisions, I feel like I am back in control of the disease and ready to once again beat it (this time for good!) There are a lot of good promising options out there. What is right for one person may not be right for you. You need to figure out the plan of attack that is right for you, and with a positive outlook, take control of the cml and conquer it! -karen a
