Studies show that the earlier we catch this disease, the better Gleevec works (& other treatments too). I was very lucky. My CML was diagnosed at my annual cholesterol checkup, when my WBC was at 90,000 - early chronic. (I now nag my co-workers and friends about getting a checkup every year!)
