Hello,
I've been a member of the group for some time, but rarely post...I'm
mostly a lurker. My husband James, who just turned 30 this month,
was diagnosed with CML in June 2003. He went on 400mg of Gleevec
and reached partial remission, but never quite got all the way
there. In August of 2004, he relapsed into blast crisis. After 7
days of induction chemotherapy (and a month in the hospital) he
reached a full, complete remission...no phillies, no BCR-ABL!! We
decided that our best option was for him to undergo a bmt. We are
now in Seattle, WA and he is 46 days post transplant and doing
well...he has had some skin GVHD, which was expected as he had an
unrelated 9/10 match for his donor. We have a 5 1/2 month old son,
Sam, who is the light of our life, and who was concieved while James
was on Gleevec.
I don't post often because I am so busy being James's caregiver and
wife and being Sam's mommy. I do read many of the posts, and I am
so grateful to those of you who take the time to post about research
and new developments in the fight against CML. I also like to
follow everyone and see how they are doing. I will try to post more
often, as I do enjoy being a member of this group.
Thank you all for your encouraging words, for sharing your stories,
for providing valuable information, and for being there. This is a
wonderful group of people.
