I agree you maybe should stay on Glivec whilst away and then take 
the break.  Hope you have a lovely time.
Apart from Rich, we have heard of several people who have had cml 
for 10+ years, prior to Glivec.  They did not wish to go the 
interferon route at that time and have remained on Hydrea.  They 
also refused Glivec when it was available as they had been doing so 
well on Hydrea.  Now, I am not recommending this at all, but they 
are all still here, have not progressed to accelerated phase and are 
feeling well.  I know we are all different and what applies to one 
will not necessarily apply to another, but it just shows that 
sometimes cml is VERY slow to progress.  After all, the hydrea is 
reducing their blood counts, but not much else.....  
Hope this encourages you that taking a Glivec break may be a good 
thing for you.
