Hello
Everyone,
In November 2002 I
joined the Yahoo list after going through 2 years of having CML without feeling
the need to participate in such a group.
I joined for two
reasons, the first reason was a horrible event that had happened to a very
good friend. Her name was Tanya Buschman and although her husband had said
she committed suicide, I knew that was impossible. Today he was just
convicted of her murder, murder in the first degree.
This has been a
heart wrenching two years for me. Tanya was my hairdresser and the first
person to cut my daughters hair, while she was still in diapers (my daughter is
22 now). When I was diagnosed with CML in November 2000 Tanya gave me much
support and in my darkest moments she promised me that if I didn't make it to my
daughters wedding (one day and only if my daughter wanted to get married)
she would give her the support that I wouldn't be there to give. But of
course she said that would never happen.
During my 18 months
on interferon, Tanya took very good care of me, changing my hairstyles slightly
to make up for the damage from IFN. We laughed and sometimes shed a tear
or two, but mostly she was a positive and outgoing person. I have to say
she was a very beautiful lady. We shared exercise and diet secrets.
I worked at one time with her sister. Her mother does missionary
work and I met with her a few times, what a lovely lady she
is.
When we attended the
funeral it was difficult for me to see the scratches and bruises on her husbands
face knowing that Tanya had probably put them there while she tried desperately
to save her life.
There are some who
will probably say this list isn't the place for this, but it is actually.
This event shook me up so much that I went through extreme grief, an emotion I
could ill afford (none of us can) while battling such a formidable
disease. This list provided me an opportunity to recover and a reason to
keep on going. I didn't share this with anyone on this list back
then, because it was such a downer. But now the long wait is over and
justice has been served.
I take the time to
savior life more, but I miss her terribly, not a day goes by when I do not hear
her voice or see her smile.
Thanks for letting
me share this.
