I appreciate your concerns Cynthia but it really does not matter what effect it has on me at this point. I also appreciate the many emails I have received from people who were at one time helped through this group. I spent nearly 10 years in building up the CML group and in other advocacy for CML patients. It is of course painful for me to see my own personal reputation destroyed because of a handful of people who have personal differences with me and other objectives of their own and will use any means necessary to get what they want. It is also painful to see the larger work of the group damaged in the way that has now been done. Some of the people I have helped over the years were among the first to stab me in the back when the opportunity arose. When I started this group I would never have imagined that I would encounter people in a CML support group who use some of the tactics that have been used against me in the past 2 years. I am not naive and I realize that truth and honesty have little place in life any more and that for many people the ends justify the means. I underestimated how many people would believe smears and would act on false information without even bothering to inquire further but sadly that is how many if not most things are nowadays. It is unfortunate when people use Machiavellian tactics to disrupt a cancer support group but at least we now know that it works as well here as it does in every other part of life. At this point there is not much that can be done since so many of the longtime members of this group have made the decision to move to another group. If I had more time and energy I would fight some of this court. If those who are still left want to continue with the groups they can continue to operate.
