Day 55 Back in Houston feeling refreshed, recharged and ready to
tackle our remaining days in out-patient limbo.

What a treat it was to get to go home for two whole days.
When we left, the yard was still cold and bare, and we returned to
green grass, blooming dogwoods and brilliant azaleas. Home never
felt so good (even if I did have to sleep in the camper in the
driveway for isolation purposes).

We had a chance to catch up with the our childrens' lives and see
for ourselves that they are doing well. (Thank you, Grandma and
Granpa!) The only thing that could have topped all this was if we
had been given enough notice to fly my mother in for the
reunion....she was missed. We hope to get her down to Houston very
soon.

Traveling with the Home Infusion Bottles is no problem. We just put
them in a soft cooler with and ice pac. They stayed nice and cool
for the four hour drive each way.

On Saturday, we just hung around enjoying being home and together as
a family. On Sunday, while my family went to Church (way too
crowded for me to take the risk), I went for a long drive out on the
rolling prairies north of Colleyville with a fellow shutterbug and
good friend. The more I explore Texas, the more I am taken aback by
her subtle beauty. Texas is far from being the tumbleweed dustbowl
that many Easterners (including myself at one time) often think it
is. It has a unique and rustic beauty all its own. I love it here.

The ride home was uneventful. We were sad to leave, but re-committed
to getting through the second half of the process with a minimum of
stress. The visit home had such a healing effect on our homesick
hearts. It was a great gift from my Transplant Team to give us
permission to go!

Today (Monday) I go into the clinic later afternoon for bloodwork,
IV fluids and a meeting with the team. Hoping the this first blood
test since returning comes out as good as the one before I left!

Regards and Prayers

Dane
