My Dr and I have talked about when and if I can ever get off Gleevec. I am not worried about the cost now but the cost does make me think twice about retiring someday. My insurance would be expensive and might not cover Gleevec. When I order Gleevec on-line the cost is only $50 every 3 months for 400mg per day. But the company pays $2800 per month of the costs. So that comes to $33,720 per year that the company and I pay for my medicine. There is no way I could ever pay 50% of that let alone all of it. My hope is someday to be Cancer free as well as Gleevec free.
