Haven't been posting much, but try to read all the posts and keep up with everyone's good news and not so good news. You ALL remain in my prayers every day.
Bob will be ungoing vertebroplasty on his L2 vertebrae at USC Medical Center on Tues, 5/17. It is an outpatient procedure lasting about 5 hours. The description is: Vertebroplasty refers to percutaneous (thru the skin) structural reinforcement of the vertebral body using a special cement-like substance called "polymethylemethacrylate acrylic cement" (PMMA). So that said, wish us luck!!!
Bob's counts have been ok lately. WBC slightly high at 11, HGB slightly low at 8.7, and, of course, platelets still high at 732. He is still in PCRU according to UCLA and still on 105 mg of BMS drug 6 days a week. He also takes .5 mg x 16 Agrylin daily, 8 in am and 8 in pm.
With the results of the strokes and the pain from the fractured vertebrae he doesn't do much anymore. I'm hoping that with the back pain gone he'll be able to get around more. He uses a walker now and that is very helpful. It's difficult to communicate with him, so our evenings watching tv are very quiet! It's hard for me not to be able to discuss world events, etc with him. We used to have such lively discussions! We live abit isolated on 5 acres in the desert, with no near neighbors. We're about 15 miles from the city where we shop and all. So I don't have the opportunity for much communication except with my cat! My son is here from Colorado for a few weeks, so that is very helpful and my grandson with be here next week. That is always a joy!
Anyway, did not mean to write a book...........I will try to keep up better with posting. Just know that you all are in my thoughts and I feel your joy on good news and your pain when things aren't going right.
