What is the Harvard CML Study? The Harvard CML Study is for people across the United States who have chronic myeloid leukemia (CML). The goal of the study is to learn more about people in the United States with CML, and how their disease is being treated. Your participation in this study will help us learn important things about people with CML, such as: * How are treatment decisions made? * What kinds of things are associated with good or poor responses to treatment? * What are the long-term effects of treatment? * What health, emotional, insurance, and work issues are important to people with CML? Researchers on the study will learn about people with CML by analyzing survey information and blood samples. Who can join? You are eligible to join if you: * have been diagnosed with CML in the last one year * are age 18 or older * live in the United States What will I be asked to do if I join the Harvard CML Study? If you would like to take part in the study, we would ask you to: * Complete a survey every six months. Each survey would be mailed to your home and would take between 20 and 30 minutes to complete. The surveys will contain questions about your diagnosis of CML, your treatment, your quality of life, your symptoms and general health, and your experiences as a CML patient. * Donate blood samples every six months. Specimen kit used for drawing blood will also be sent to your home and 35-50 cc's (about 7-10 teaspoons) of blood will be collected when your blood is being drawn for routine care. You may choose to allow us to provide your doctor with any standard test results performed on your blood samples that your doctor could have ordered. To receive the results, you would need to contact your physician. * Sign a release of medical information form. This will allow us to request copies of medical records that relate to your CML diagnosis and treatment. How do I find out more? If you are interested in joining the study or would like more information, please contact us at the phone number or email address listed above. ------------------------ Yahoo!
