Hey Suzan & Group:
Your life is parallel to mine with a diagnosis after 50, son in AF, my
'nasty' divorce after my health failed, diagnosis with all the side effects
listed and others, other health problems, not being a candidate for a bmt
and being told I had 2 months to live in '03.
I agree with Pat you need a 2nd, 3rd, or 4th opinion prior bmt; the
transplantation doctors push for them. I personally don't like the stats for
women over 50 with other health issues. I met a lady and she said 'the darn
thang last all of 8 months', and now she's living a Gleevec life again. The
CDC doctor came in and told them that she was going to die, she didn't and
now she's basically back to her life prior the bmt. She says she's been
'through hell and back via the bmt' and her quality of life is the same as
pre bmt.
Suzan, from your post, you are a christian, and I will pray for you to
make the right decision. Our 'bug' as I call CML is a life changing
disease, and now you have another life changing decision to make regarding
your life as a survivor.
Take care, all are in my prayers.
