A little more than a year ago, Carol Harley, a member of the popular
Northwest-based band Misty River, learned she had chronic myelogenous
leukemia.
Harley is well-known in the folk, bluegrass and acoustic music community, not just as a musician but as a mentor to many youths. "Carol always tried to include everyone in playing and singing," Beth Adkins of Salem said. "There is a lot of mentoring going on in the bluegrass community."
