Dear Michael,
I am glad to hear that you are feeling better but I am sorry you have to go
through all of this. I hope that the PCR is not a very high percentage and
please update us as soon as you find out.
My prayers are with you.
Keep up the fight!

Subject: I'm Back

Hello All,
Here is a simple update on where I have been and what has been going
on.
I started the summer semester off with a bang on the 13th of June. I
attended classes on the 13th and 14th. The evening of the 14th I
came in from school with a spliting headache. I have had headaches
in the past but nothing like this one. My wife took my temp and I
was running near 103. She saw me through the night and the next
morning called my ONC. He said to get the ball rolling and get me to
an emergency room. So off we went. Several hours later we were seen
by the doctors and after pumping me full of various pain meds and
running many test it was determined that I had viral minigitus. I
was placed on a ward and soon developed pneumonia on top of the
minigitus. After a hard battle and 11 days in the hospital I was
released to the house. I was told that I would be weak for several
weeks and I would gradually build my strength back up.
I am proud to say that today I cut the grass. I still am not 100%
but I feel stronger everyday.
I had to drop all classes this summer which puts me almost a year
behind but at this point I really don't care. The fact that I am
well is more important than school right now.
A few days ago I went for my monthly with the ONC. He had some bad
news. Last month we ran the FISH and PCR test. The resuls came in
while I was in the hospital. I didn't get the FISH results yet but
the PCR came back positive. He said that a number wasn't sent and he
is contacting the company for the actual numbers. He also told me
that as soon as all of this other stuff is cleared up he is bumping
me up to 600mg of Gleevic. He is also once again pushing for a
transplant. I hate to hear that!
Anyway, that is where I have been and what has been going on. I hope
life finds you all well and cared for. I will update you as I get
more info myself.
Smile,
Michael Herring
