Novartis AG, Switzerland's biggest drugmaker, may say second-quarter earnings rose 4 percent as Chief Executive Daniel Vasella spent money to develop new treatments and promote aging bestsellers such as the Diovan heart medicine....
Vasella, 52, received total compensation of 20.8 million Swiss francs ($16 million) in 2004, including salary and stock awards and options, Novartis said in its annual report. Vasella declined, through spokesman John Gilardi, to be interviewed for this article.
