Hi Sue - There were 18 close matches for my son from the National Bone Marrow Foundation's list. Out of those, it was narrowed down more to the the closest non-related match. We look forward to meeting the other part of our family and the donor is also awaiting in anticipation to meeting us, his other family!! Did your child's doctor or transplant hospital try to obtain a match? I won't fool you, it's  a long road - but much is learned all in all with it. How old is your child? Matt is 22 - he was diagnosed in July 2004, he was 21 years old. He had side effects with the Gleevec so that was a major reason for the pursuant of BMT. Thanks - CML Mom, Mary Ann

I am so sorry that your son is having such a difficult time after his transplant.  I am very curious why he decided on a non-related donor so early in his disease process.  Would you mind explaining what led him to the transplant?
Thank you.
Sue....CML Mom, also.
