Hey Group:
I made the trip to Dover to visit my son in the Air Force, my daughter
went with me and did all the highway driving and I thank God and Gleevec
because after diagnosis I was given 2 - 5 months to live, but "Man points. .
.GOD appoints"; and my favorite 'I AIN'T FINISHED YET"!!!.
Pat, I have added you and yours to my prayer list. I know. . . 'there by
the grace of God goes my son'. After graduation, I bought him a car, and he
was at his dad's drinking. . . gave me a call and told me that he was going to
the University to register and then come by my home. Knowing that he had been
drinking by his speech I told him to stay there and do it tomorrow. He didn't
listen, and less than 3 hours later, I received a call from the hospital. He
lost a full-ride academic scolarship, the car was totaled, and he had
thousands to pay out. Through my encouragement, he entered the Air Force 10
days before my diagnosis. He told me that when he lost the
scholarship and his dream of becoming an Attorney was lost forever, due to
that 1 mistake. He's excelling the the military, and I assured him that it's
only a 'dream deferred'.
To my sister & brother survivors, as always you are in my prayers. My
son reminded me of the following prayer that I have had since 1972, it is as
follows:
PRAYER FOR HEALTH & HEALING
Dear Father in heaven to whom All men lift their faces, make me quiet in
this time of prayer that Thy loving heart may bring to me all health and all
healing.
For I have been so worried about my health, dear Father. Sometimes it
just seems that sickness and worry, weariness and pain drain the very strength
from my bones.
I know Thou hast pity, loving Father, for Thou didst watch even Thine
only son suffer and cry. So please help me, Thy child, in my weakness and
pain.
Truly I thank thee for thy servants, the doctors and their medicines,
Father, and may they feel they are worthy disciples of the Great Physician.
Please guide them so they also can do their part in bringing back health to
me.
I want to be well not only for myself, dear Lord, buy for my dear
ones who need me and for Thee that I may once again go about Thy business. So
please, Father of health, give me, this Thy blessing.
And not, Father, as I close my prayer, truly I feel the warmth that is
the strength of Thy spirit working within my soul and body. Truly I feel so
much stronger and full of hope and I do thank Thee, my Father. I do have
faith in Thee and I do look forward to thy help - and even the thought of it
gives me hope and peace.
