It makes sense that the Barenaked Ladies would be keen to get involved with
an event like this. These days almost everyone knows someone whose life has been
affected by cancer, and BNL are no different. Their keyboardist, Kevin Hearn,
was diagnosed with chronic myelogenous leukemia, a form of blood cancer in 1998,
and had to take two years off to receive treatment. He underwent a painful bone
marrow transplant procedure, which eventually led him to a full recovery and he
rejoined the band to start work on their fifth studio album, Maroon.
