The figures vary a lot by location of the transplant center, patients, etc.
but those figures are similar to others I have seen before.

The Specialist at the Cancer Center in my area told me that 30% die in
the 1st three (3) months and over 50% die in the 1st year following BMT.
This was December, 2003; I don't know what the statistics are now? I don't
know how many of us have had a BMT in the past 2 years? It is something that
those thinking about having a BMT might want to investigate. In my survival,
Gleevec is my only option.
Had I known I would have gotten the response that I hadn't intended
to arouse, I would never have given my opinion because it was taken out of
context. I am not a candidate for a BMT; should I get to the point in my
survival where Gleevec no longer works for me. . . I will SURVIVE, BY ANY
MEANS NECESSARY. . . as I pray each and every one of my brother & sister
survivors will go to the ends of the earth to find treatment and/or
cure.
