Hi Ann,Thank for your reply,How long has your husband been on gleevec?How old is he?Randy is 55 and has been taking gleevec for four months.Do you think it is harder on older people or does age realy matter? He doesn't have many side effects,but he takes it right after dinner with alot of water. Thanks and Happy New Year,Sandy

My husband David was on 400 mg, then increased to 800 mg in August of this year.  He experienced similar side effects to those he had when he originally went on Gleevec, but they were less severe and more intermittant.  He was achy and had reduced energy levels for about 45 days but now he feels fine almost all of the time.  The fact that your husband had no side effects from 400 mg is great!  I hope he does as well if he has to go to 600 mg.  Regardless, the side effects are (for most people) managable and relatively short-lived.
