Hello Sue,

Don't get discouraged. I would suggest you ask your doctor to check
your hemaglobin level. My levels went quite low after a few months on
Gleevec. He may be able to prescribe something for it. Other than
that, you may find this hard to believe, but I find that working out at
the gym - even though I would rather go take a nap, helps me to break
through the fatigue you are describing. It seems wierd, here we are so
tired and the one thing that really helps is exercise.

I am starting my third year on Gleevec after going through 18 months of
interferon. I really cannot say that any of it has been too unpleasant
and I have been able to keep relatively busy. I work full time, go to
the gym, downhill ski, and organize meetings for other CML patients.
Plus keep busy with a bunch of other hobbies. At first it was
difficult to find the right pace, but as time goes by it does get a bit
easier.

I am undetectable by Q RT PCR, and I must admit that every once in
while I take a break from Gleevec, much against the wishes of my
doctor. I have been doing this for 2 years now, and I have been able
to keep my PCRU status, although I wouldn't suggest this to anyone and
it is rather risky. I'd rather if anything bad were to happen because
of a break, that it only happened to me. I would feel quite bad if
anyone were to really harm themselves, so I am not advocating this for
anyone.

Talk to your doctor and see what he/she might suggest for your fatigue.

Best of luck and hang in there,
Cheryl-Anne

was quite active. I am finding that I now have NO energy on 400 mg of
Gleevec. Is this what most of you experience? I can't seem to get
through a full work day without collapsing when I get home. I don't
think I can manage the full time job anymore and it is quite
discouraging.
