Hi Suzieq,

My Calcium has been running low (8.2 - 8.4, normal for me is 8.5-10.4),
but so also has my Potassium (2.6 - 3.4, normal for me is 3.4-5.3) and
Magnesium (1.3 - 1.5, normal for me is 1.6-2.3). I'm not sure if
they're related, that are all low, but I should also say that in
addition to CML (dx Apr03, on 600 mg/day Gleevec, in cytogenetic
remission), I also have Crohn's Disease - which may attribute to the
lower Potassium, Magnesium, and Calcium. Regardless who I ask, no one
has an answer/reason for it - in addition to my regular, local
oncologist, gastroenterologist, and primary care, I've also had
multiple consultations with Dr. Druker at OHSU (no one seems to have
any other patients with the CML/Crohn's combination and therefore just
refer to me as a "special case" - am really getting annoyed with that
label, I just want answers, that's all!!!).

I'd like to ask about the Glucosomene/Condroitin. I've tried it before
(don't recall which one it was, though I remember that I bought it at
WalMart, and it was around $30-40, I only tried it for several weeks
with no apparent change in symptoms. My achiness feels like flu-like
symptoms every morning and lasts for at least several hours until
having breakfast and morning meds, which is now getting longer - more
than 2 hours. This achiness, too, the same doctors attribute to the
CML/Crohn's combo - no one knows for sure, I've just been dealing with
it (though not very well). It's preventing me from returning to work FT
- currently can barely complete 6 hours/day, and that can only be
accomplished because I work remotely (at home) with flexible hours;
that is, takes 10-12 hours/day to complete the 6 hrs/day of work. My
fatigue, therefore, is also a problem - no energy to do anything else
(except occasionally a small around-the-house project on weeknds). Have
been taking Prednisone to help with the fatigue, but my primary care
won't let me take any more than the 10 mg/day that I've been on for
several years; instead, supplement it with Methadone (NOT the same, but
easier on the system long-term).

Didn't mean to get into too much detail here, just interested in
hearing more about your treatment for achiness and fatigue.
