Thanks Cheryl-Anne for this ton of info about marijanna. I do agree
with a lot of it and some I do not. I think mild use of it wouldn't
hurt as long as it is not mixed with other drugs. As for these studies,
well I beg to differ on some of it. As I stated before I have been a
user in my life. I started when I was 16 and smoked off and on until I
was 25 or so. I did not smoke while I was pregnant with my children. I
was an occassional smoker off and on until after my son was born when I
was 24 or so. I worked full time and never missed work from being sick
because of the pot. Now there were other co-workers who were
alcoholics, and used other drugs such as cocaine, etc that missed many
days of work. These people were hung over from the alcohol and
experienced numerous different health problems related to alcohol. The
cocaine caused people to miss work for the simple fact, they were
craving it while they worked and left work early in search of some
more, or took the day off to satisfy their addiction. I have had people
working with me or under my supervision that I knew smoked. All I asked
them to do was not smoke while on the job, what they did in private off
the clock was their business, and they were some of the best workers I
had and they did not miss work.
Anyway, another member of the group sent me the list of things that are
not to be taken while on Gleevec, one of which was marijuanna so I
suppose it is not a good idea. I do not want to do anything that would
jeopardize the effectiveness of Gleevec....even though the Gleevec, in
a sense is saving my life from leukemia but killing me in other ways.
Just about all the medications I am on, all 12 of them have different
side effects....and the majority of them were given to me to combat the
side effects caused by Gleevec. Just about anything you take or consume
these days is not good for you. Anything from fried foods, caffeine,
sugar, cigerettes, etc. etc is not good for you. I think the air we
breathe is contaminated, the water we drink, which I think is one of
the most nasty, contaminated things on earth. I grew up on spring water
and loved it, but this tap water, I just can't drink. I do drink
bottled water that supposedly comes from a spring here in the mountains
of Tennesee. I know it doesn't taste like tap water but whether it
actually comes from this natural spring I don't know. I read an article
that a lot of the bottled water that is labeled spring water is
actually only sterilized water. So the things that marijuanna might do
to me really didn't concern me as long as I could benefit from it by
having an appetite. Everything seems to be a trade off. However,
because it is on the list of things not to use while on Gleevec, I
won't. It's odd that they give it to cancer patients on chemo for
nausea, and patients with glaucoma use it. So I guess they are using it
to treat one problem and in the process creating more health related
problems.
I really enjoyed smoking when I did smoke. It relaxed me....made me
laugh and Lord knows I could use all the laughter I could get, and also
made me have a ravishing appetite. As a teenager in high school, I
would get a buzz and study for tests and was a A student. However, what
I studied and learned often left my memory shortly after I had took the
test. I also recall constantly hiding my stash from my parents and then
forgetting where I had hid it...but sometime later....I would finally
remember where I had hid it.
Anyway, thanks for caring enough to send me this info. I appreciate it.
A friend of mine advised me to go to the health food store....since
they have something for just about everything you can name, maybe they
have something that will work as an appetite stimulant. I met a woman
in the grocery store a while back that told me she had used something
from the health food store to quit smoking. I'd never heard about this.
Thanks again....Love, Peace, Hope & Peace, Pat
