The main reason for medicine expiration dates is that the meds lose
effectiveness over time.  Manufacturers are required to make a
conservative estimate regarding when the medications will begin to lose
potency, and list that as an expiration date.  I would be surprised if
the Gleevec has lost potency at this point.  Your doc said it is OK,
and I would agree with that assessment.
