My husband was diagnosed with CML 14 years ago. It was devastating, but he muddled through the early years. Then Gleevec came along he was greatly improved but not without side effects. When Gleevec stopped working for him he started in the BMS trail in Houston and has had quite good results. We certainly are thankful for the reseach that is continuing.
Recently I had a surpise birthday party for him and told his friends and family that they should make a gift to the Leukemia Society in lieu of gifts. I know we raised over $150 but it was probably more because many sent their gift directly to the Society without our knowing what they were.
