dh Terry had severe side effects with Gleevec during the 14 months that he
took it....but though he bruised easily, his skin never seemed
"thin". No one warned us about a potential problem, so Terry did
swim in chlorine pools quite a bit last summer. Never seemed to
have a problem or rash that we didn't know why he had it.
I don't remember that he was ever well enough for us to go to a lake, but we
have well water that we drink and also bathe from & no problems there
either.
Terry has now been on Dasatinib for 2 months & doing VERY
well. He goes in for a BMB on June 14th & then we will see if it
is helping him internally as well as living a more normal life. He
is still unable to work a full 8 hour day....but he is getting
closer. He just could never stand 8 hours a day or do hard manual
labor with the amount of bone & joint pain he experiences daily.
however, the side effects from Gleevec have almost all disappeared, so we are
very thankful for this alternative drug.
