Hello Annie I was diagnosed 12/2003 with WBC's about 200,000. I was 29 years old. i was also put on hydroxyurea. at that range i was told that i was of risk of stroke as well, i am not sure what the lower limits are, but i assume 179 is right up there. On another note, while i have heard of the risks from doctors, i have not heard of any situations in which anyone has actually had a stroke from this group or others. So i dont have a good feeling of the % increase of risk.
