Just an update on my cousin Dona's last
echocardiogram. As I posted a while back,
Dr. Talpaz required all his patients too have an echocardiogram. I
thought 18
months ago, but Dona checked and it was two years ago. She has some
fluid around
her heart, but unlike the time she had one
lung almost filled with fluidd, there is no
medication to eliminate it. When it gets to
a certain level, they will remove it with a
needle or somesuch. The other fluid was
reduced with medication. Since the heart
fluid level was the same as 4 months ago, she will now have to repeat
it at 6 month intervals. Whether her leg and hip
pain are Gleevec or not, her visit this week to her ortho Dr. netted the
same
comment. There is no help for her and she was advised to sell her car
since she
will never be able to drive it; she was also
advised to forget ever walking again. I am
urging her to get a second opinion but she keeps insisting this Dr. is
the best in Tucson. I'm sure she will have to get off the study at
MDACC, as her next appt,
is October. This pain hit just a few days
before I flew to Tucson on my regular trip
to help her to Houston. (April)
