well, I can only share Terry's experience. He was having heart
palpitations in mid February & was admitted to the hospital.
Luckily, his heart seems fine & they even did a vein scan on his legs,
etc. However, this was basically the last straw of side effects that
were basically going to kill him before the cancer did They
took Terry off Gleevec for 2 months while trying to decide what to
do. He was able to get on the BMS trial, which is still continuing
to this point.
Terry has had a much better quality of life since starting
Dasatinib. However, now other smaller side effects are starting to
happen. He still has the shooting leg & arm pains, but we don't know
how much of that is the cancer, versus Gleevec leftover issues. All
his other "getting older" issues become more pronounced. He had pink eye
& an ingrown toenail that had to be cut out this week. His
glucose is hovering at 98.....he can't drop all the water weight & such that
was gained since Christmas, which raises his blood pressure, and of course, is
hard on feet & knees to carry the extra weight.
fun fun!!! But he is still alive!! Best part is
that Terry has worked fulltime the past 2 months...that is a miracle!!
