Irene...

I had contacted Bristol Meyer Squibb back in April before Dasatinib was approved by FDA to ask about patient assistance.   The girl I talked to was fairly sure it would be in their Patient Assistance program just like Gleevec was available through Novartis.    This means that you can apply for "aid"....whether a lower co-pay....or in our case, needing it for free.   At the moment, Terry is on a study where he has received the Dasatinib for free for the last 4.5 months.....however, they made it clear to us that once the FDA approved it, they were not sure how long the study might continue.

Anyway, you can contact BMS, ask for patient assistance....and if like Novartis...there will be forms to fill out, but even Novartis, had a 30 day emergency script they sent out just based on Doctor saying that we had a "need."

from what I have been finding on applying for aid for every drug that Terry takes, the baseline family salary is usually $32,000 to $40,000 before a company might ask for some type of co-pay.   We are so far below those figures, that we don't have to worry yet, but if Terry is able to go back to a real job within the next several months then we will worry when we have to.
