Just wanted to say "thanks" to all who "weighed" in on what to take for coughs & colds. I've been doing the Nyquil at night time, but if you haven't read the ingredients, it has a 1000 mg. of acetaminophen per dose, so I won't take it for long. I do the Advil Cold & Sinus Gel caps during the daytime, all in all, I think I am feeling better. I am still coughing some, but not as bad. Or at least, it doesn't sound that way to me. :-) And, for the record, Katy, no way can I take anything with Ephedrine in it as I am wound up for two days straight. I told my husband when Missouri started putting all the drugs with that in it behind lock and key because of the meth problem here that I could certainly understand why the makers of meth put that stuff in it.
I do limit my use of anything with Tylenol/acetaminophen in it as I know that is one that's listed on the Gleevec paper. I knew about the liver problems with Tylenol before being Dx. and put on Gleevec & I mostly took Advil. It works better for me anyway. I think the staying home and just resting has helped more than anything. I'm having to take the dog out on his leash fairly often, so that's my "exercise" :-) for right now. And, I have been drinking juice and eating "chicken soup" (sorry, not fresh as I don't feel like making it and no one here to do it for me. Hubby not very domestic. :-) ) For some "good news", I have been slowly losing a few pounds and that makes me feel even better. What helped to start this, someone in the group here mentioned that it helps them to just eat a snack when taking their Gleevec. I thought one had to eat a full meal, so I started doing the snack thing and it has worked for me. I never was one to eat three huge meals a day anyway and when I broke the Gleevec in half, I was eating two full meals when taking it even when I wasn't the least bit hungry. So, now I have cut way back on the food & trying to even eat more healthy meals, and it is showing by the lost weight. Yippeeeeee! I know I've gained at least thirty to forty extra pounds since being dx. and put on Gleevec and want to try to take it back off and maybe begin a "slow" program of exercise to help build the muscles back up. Thanks again to all. I really enjoy reading all the posts on here and each one of you are a great help. It's like having a "network of friends", isn't it?
