I regret to hear you have CML but it won't take long for you to realize
how fortunate you are to have found this group. It is such a wonderful
group of people who also happen to have some wonderful doctors and it's
just an amzing place to find so much information, understanding and
comfort. It will be 2 years this month that I have been taking
Gleevec. I can still remember the shock of my diagnosis and how
terrified I was. I got on the internet and just started reading
everything I could find on CML and discovered this group rather
quickly. It was so comforting to know there were multiple people out
there who knew exactly how I felt physically and mentally. I read the
posts every day altho I don't post like I once did. Just feel free to
ask any questions you may have....no question is a stupid one when it
concerns you and your health. There was so much about it all I couldn't
understand and so many people here were more than eager to explain
things.
Some people do really well and continue with their jobs, and then
there's others like me who can't. I also have COPD so it's like
fighting two monsters at once.
I wish for you great success with the Gleevec and look forward to
hearing from you in the future.

Just a brief update to everyone, my numbers continue to remain about
the same, still not to the BIG ZERO yet. I am seeing the doctor every
two months and when I go back this month, I'm expecting Gleevec to be
increased to 800mg. I had a terrible bout of bronchitis and sinus
infection back before Xmas for about a month. I was so sick, couldn't
eat so I didn't keep a lot of the Gleevec down during that time. My
hubby is in bed with pneumonia. He's been sick for about 2 weeks. There
is a lot of upper respiratory bugs floating in my area. Our weather is
so crazy...one day it might be in the 60's and the next day upper 30's
and raining on and off. We thought my husband (Jim) had a typical
cold, he got over it and then it came back with a venengace. There was
a local woman here, 21 years old who got sick Thanksgiving night and
was in a coma the next day, then suffered a severe heart attack and she
had bacteria pnuemonia which I didn't know there was 2 kinds, viral or
bacteria so we've learned from experience and also thru news of this
lady to not take things so lightly. The woman survived and is now in a
wheelchair for the moment but they say she was very, very lucky. Things
are not always what they seem in cases of common colds and a lot of us
have compromised immune systems. The doctor told us today to wash our
hands as much as possible which we have gotten in the habit. I have
antibacterial soap bottles in every room and spray a lot of Lysol
especially when one of us is sick.
Hope everyone is ok. I'm thinkin' about everyone.
Love, Peace, Hope & Prayers, Pat
