Hey Group. . . This may be the beginning of my 'I've Heard' column (hehehe). I've stated previously that I don't believe our 'Cure' will be in the BMT. . .I'm leaning towards SCT. FYI~~I've heard that Private Banks are charging $1,200.00+ to preserve the cords and $100.00+ yearly for storage.Enacted Legislation could make the FED Banks store the cords and in the future should someone in the donating family need a cord; one would be available. It is not known if the Private company's will be in business. . .or the duration of time that the cords would be viable. Therefore, any family that has donated should receive an in-kind Cord donation when needed. My 2 cents~~Whenever young people ask if there's "anything that they can do for me". I tell them to become a Registered BMT/SCT/blood Donor; make a monetary donation or Volunteer their (time) to our bug or any Cancer~~donate their baby's cord; and keep me in their prayers. We are so into 'Self"; family members 'would' donate for their loved one. . . become pissy because no one in their family's a match and won't become registered donors. Group~~yes I do know the difference between a BMT and SCT~~mud and mini and any others as the Transplant Doctors label them. Before individual members waste time sending me emails and articles stating that I don't know the difference (hehehe). We are Individuals in our Survival~~We are Statistics to the Transplant Doctors.
