For anyone following this thread, the link below describes what the
term "Investigator proposed trial" entails.  I chose this link because
it is clear and easy to understand.  It is all very fascinating and
assures all of us reading and relying on the data that the various
ethics review boards have been appropriately consulted and that the
requirements of the ethic committees have been met.
