Hi Wayne: I've been on Gleevec about the same amount of time and had the
diarrhea problem a lot, especially for the first few years. I am also on a
blood thinner, so perhaps there is a connection. I have been on as much as 800
mg. of Gleevec, but at present am on 400 mg. I am not having a severe problem
with diarrhea at present but take a prescription for it. I take the Generic
version and it's called Loperamide and is a 2 MG capsule. I can take it two
times a day....in the morning and at night. It helps a lot. I had diarrhea so
bad that I ended up in the hospital completely dehydrated at one point early
on. Funny how some people are affected and others aren't. Ask your doctor
about giving you a prescription for something. The over the counter meds
didn't help me. Hope that I've helped you a little.
