Hi Jeanie:  Allopurinol is used to treat gout.  Never heard of it being used
with Gleevec, but I know it can do something to your blood cells possibly.  I
do not know if anyone else heard of using it for any other reasons than Gout.
Did you have the gout at that point when it was given to you, maybe because of
Edema or something.  Did you check with your oncologist?

Hi all,
I was wondering how many of you are taking ALLOPURINOL along with your
Gleevec.  This is taken to cut down on the toxic effects of Gleevec.
I remember I was taking it in the beginning but then the Dr quit giving it to
me.  I now have high potassium and was wondering if I might need this drug.
Thanks,
Jeanie<3
