Hi Jeanie: Allopurinol is used to treat gout. Never heard of it being used with Gleevec, but I know it can do something to your blood cells possibly. I do not know if anyone else heard of using it for any other reasons than Gout. Did you have the gout at that point when it was given to you, maybe because of Edema or something.
