Hi Jeanie:  You brought up a very good point regarding mistakes made at the
lab.  I have seen it happen a lot with people.  I used to get my blood taken at
my Oncologist's office.  They just stopped doing it this year.  Everyone goes
to the hospital or to Quest.  My insurance will not let me go to my Oncologist
or his hospital, therefore, I go to Quest.
Insurance is a whole new topic for everyone to discuss for sure.  I still am
waiting for my slip to go for the testing.  My Oncologist's office has been
closed.  It was still not in my mail today.  This is a whole week now.  I am
calling them tomorrow, and having her Fax it to my house.  Lets just pray that
we both get good results.

Hi Suzzie and thanks for the update on your platelets.
Did you get tested today? Where do you get tested?
I got my potassium test this morning, but it won't be back until tomorrow.
Waiting on these test cause a lot of stress, but I guess that's one of the
things that go along with CML.
The nurse that takes my blood said to me, " I bet you're tired of getting this
test all the time?"  I told her the testing wasn't so bad, it's the waiting for
the results and hoping they are OK that are the worse.
I was a little upset when my Onc  told me that the testing I was having done
might not have been accurate; this is the same place where I get tested for my
cbcs so that wasn't fun.
I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions of where the best place is to get
you testing done.  Mine is taken by the nurse at my PP's office and sent to
Quest.
The results are back the next day.
My WBC and Platelets are both high.
Let us know when you get tested.
Blessings and prayers,
Jeanie<3

Hi Jeanie:
I hope your doing better.  What is the latest on your potassium
levels.  I was wondering if it could be something other than the
Gleevec causing it.
I am still dealing with the low platelets.  My doctors office was
supposed to send me a slip to go for some additonal testing.  I never
got it, and then they closed down for a 4 day weekend.
I do not think they are low enough to cause any problems right now,
but like I said I was the one who brought it to his attention.
I do not think he has been really looking at my numbers that closely
because basically they all have been holding.  My WBC has been at 3.5
constantly, and my RBC, HGB have been low.
He has not felt like he should do anything as long as I have been
stable.
Let everyone know what they are doing for you, and just know my
prayers are going out for you and everyone.
                                                          Blessings
                                                              Suzzie
