I posted a comment on that webpage, reiterating that there were first and second phase trials of STI571/Gleevec in 1999/2000 and that the drug was the standard of care in 2003. That the FDA approved it in 2001, and it became the go-to drug. I agree that it cannot have been a matter of the article being "badly written." If Riswold was with Dr. Druker in 2000 it is hard to believe that Gleevec was not prescribed, even less that it was not prescribed until 2003.
